If you search your tag number in Google, what shows up for it? Mine (PTK5276) is apparently the part number for this bundle of wires for RC cars:

The plate on the Equinox (BMR-2686) is also a road in New Brunswick.

The plate on the Audi (DAX-5097) comes up with DAX1, which I think has to do with nuclear reactors.

And the plates for the other two cars turn up with nothing of value.

The first part of mine (CL4) is a part number for a ‘99-03 Accord 2.3 air cleaner.

CL4A8 is a product number for a 4 light bath fixture

There's nothing for the whole thing though (CL4-A8R)

My current 2 cars turned up nothing. So I searched for some old plates until I got a hit. Plate from a Lexus I sold in 2008 DSS-1255 came up with a random photo of somebody’s wedding!
